Local Activities for the Holidays

By in Articles with 0 Comments

No matter how you celebrate or, heck, IF you celebrate, there are TONS of fun Los Angeles outings this time of year.  Here are some of The Kostrey Collection’s favorites to get you out on the town, meeting your neighbors, or just enjoying a fun afternoon with family.

Holiday Happy Hour at the LA Zoo

Yes, the zoo is for families, and, yes, the zoo is full of holiday fun (have you checked out their LIGHTS this year?) but on Thursday Dec 8 and Thursday Dec 15, the Los Angles Zoo has Happy Hour fun for adults.  Skip the lights line and enjoy a heated VIP tent with hors d’oeuvres, adult beverages and theme nights (can we say Ugly Sweaters?).

Bob’s Holiday Office Party

I love me a good holiday show and if you’ve seen ‘A Christmas Carol’ one too many times, may I recommend a good old hysterical romp that will have you rolling in the aisles?  LA Times calls it “irreverent, crude and devastatingly funny!”  Running now through December 18 at the Atwater Village Theatre.

Let It Snow at the Grove

One of the best things about LA is the weather.  One of the things I miss most about the Midwest?  Snow.  The Grove has managed to make magic happen every night at 7 and 8 pm until Christmas Eve – SNOW!  Yes, it’s a bit cheesy, but it does do the trick … And no shoveling involved!

Holiday Ice Skating for the whole family

So there’s snow without shoveling and ice skating without snowpants!  Sunny southern California has it all for the nostalgic Midwesterner (or adventurous Californian!).  LA is now home to THREE outdoor ice skating rinks, decorated for holiday enjoyment:  Downtown’s Pershing Square, ICE at Santa Monica, and the LA Kings Holiday Ice at L.A. Live.  Grab the kids or make it a date night.  See if you can still skate as well as your childhood self.

Love Ron Burgundy?

After taking NYC by storm, Ron Burgundy is popping up in Los Angeles.  Yes, a Ron Burgundy themed bar is open for 10 days only in Hollywood.  The Stay Classy Bar is in the Mann’s Chinese Theatre from December 5 – 15 for all the hard core Will Ferrell and Anchorman fans out there.
